Cru Ministry

We have the privilege of spending our days discussing Jesus with college students through the organization Campus Crusade for Christ. Working at our alma mater, University of Illinois, is a joy since we truly believe if we reach the campus for Christ today we will reach the world tomorrow.

At U of I Cru, we are about…

1. Embracing the gospel personally.

2. Experiencing the gospel together.

3. Extending the gospel to others.

This is how we specifically go about doing that:

Alex:
  • Spends most of his time in the "6pack" dorms on campus, meeting freshman and dialoguing about Jesus with them.
  • Leads a Bible Study of men on our leadership team- and meets one on one with them for weekly discipleship times where he develops them in their study of the Bible, sharing their faith, and overall walk with God.
  • Hosts a senior seminar to help equip graduating seniors with tools like budgeting, finding a church, and living on mission in their workplace. He is passionate about helping students walk with the Lord for a lifetime.
Jess:
  • Is the female Team Leader for our staff team. She shepherds the staff women, trains a new intern, and helps oversee the women of our Cru movement.
  • Focuses on reaching out to women in the largest Greek system in the nation.
  • Co-leads a Bible study for the sorority leaders that lead Bible studies for younger Greek girls to come and explore what they believe about Christianity or deepen in their relationship with Jesus.
  • Meets weekly with women developing them in their understanding of the Gospel and how it relates to their lives so they can continue living lives on mission.

Here are a few of the talks we have given at our weekly Cru meeting.

Alex- Colossians, Unveiling Jesus- John 6

Jess- People Pleasing, Unveiling Jesus, Jonah, 2 Corinthians 5 ("Some Nights" by Fun), Jesus is Black and White, Jesus is the Ultimate Rescuer
